Funky Acorn creates unique, quirky nature-themed ornaments and decorations for your home and garden. Using nature's many and varied gifts, such as seed pods, nut shells, lichen and leaves, and of course plenty of acorns, our products are lovingly and individually crafted.

Insect decline is a very real problem, and we should be doing everything we can to help them and keep insect numbers high. Funky Acorn insect homes give your garden a perfect place for insects to thrive as well as a beautiful decoration to complement your outdoor space.

All of our insect homes use reclaimed timber and scaffolding boards in their construction, and all are waterproofed with linseed oil to protect them from the elements when outside.

Inspired by Rwandan art
Inspiration for the shape of the insect homes has been influenced by Rwandan art called Imigongo which was traditionally made from cow dung, ash and clay and was used to decorate hut walls, and more recently has been used for smaller pieces of artwork.

Imigongos are pieces of wood divided into symmetrical patterns with the lines raised using the cow dung cement. Some Funky Acorn insect homes feature the patterns of the Imigongos.
